American Specialty Health Employee Honored at YMCA Tribute to Women in Industry Luncheon

SAN DIEGO (July 7, 2006) – Tina Mitchell, senior director of information technology operations and information security officer of American Specialty Health (ASH), received special recognition for her professional achievements at the YMCA’s annual Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) luncheon on June 16, 2006.

Since 1979, the YWCA has recognized San Diego businesswomen who have made great contributions to their community and industries at an annual luncheon. At this year’s event at the San Diego Convention Center, 68 of San Diego’s top business leaders were honored.

As senior director of IT operations and information security officer at ASH, Mitchell and her staff oversee technical support, network administration, application training, security compliance, and business continuity planning. In 2003, Mitchell was awarded the Chairman’s Pursuit of Excellence Award, the highest honor the company bestows. In fact, Mitchell was one of ASH’s first employees, joining the company in 1994 before its nationwide expansion.

Mitchell is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and is a member of several associations, including the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).

She received her BA in business and information systems from National University.

Mitchell is not the only ASH employee to receive recognition from the YMCA. In recent years, ASH employees Debby Clark, Jacqueline Zhang, Monica Vargas, Dianna Curcio, Katherine Moyer, and Julie Jennings have also been honored for their leadership and professional achievements.
